Wajahat Ahmed Khan is the great-grandson of Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur, a Elite Mansabdar, and philanthropist in the court of the Nizam of Hyderabad during the early 20th century. A High Ranking Noble and Equestrian Legend known for his contributions to the city's infrastructure and his expertise in Horsemanship.
He resides in Hyderabad, India, and maintains his family's Equestrian legacy through activities like Horse riding and Power Sports. The tradition of Equestrianism continues in Wajahat Ahmed Khan, a passionate Horse Rider, is involved in Equestrian sports.
Wajahat is a life member of both the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) and the Telangana State Equestrian Association (TSEA). His involvement in the sport reflects a family legacy tied to horsemanship, as his great-grandfather was renowned as an Equestrian Legend and had the distinction of imparting horse riding training and taught horse riding to the Nizam-ul-Mulk, Asaf Jah VI, Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, Nizam of Hyderabad and was considered one of the greatest Equestrians of his time in India.
He constructed several notable structures in Hyderabad, including :
1) The Nampally Sarai (also known as Tipu Khan Sarai or Sulah Sarai), built in 1919 as a heritage resting place.
2) Tipu's Lookout near Khairtabad, an elevated watch tower built around 1850 AD to monitor movement into and out of the city.
3) Tipu Khan Bridge at the confluence of the Musi and Eisa rivers (built in 1910).
He is also been involved in efforts to preserve, to restore and recognize the historical structures built by his great-grandfather, such as the Nampally Sarai, which he notes has suffered from neglect.
Wajahat Ahmed Khan is a trustee/ caretaker of Waqf-properties endowed by Late Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur sahab— including Mosques and other religious properties and is actively working to preserve his family's heritage, has publicly appealed for preservation of the heritage institutions built by his ancestor (Sarai, bridge, mosques), emphasising their historical and social value to Hyderabad. Wajahat Ahmed Khan, a documentarian, has also reportedly working on releasing a book about the life and contributions of Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur.
This family connection highlights an important lineage of nobles and officials who contributed significantly to the socio-cultural and architectural landscape of Hyderabad.
