Legendary Horseman of India - Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur

Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur was a High Ranking Noble and Mansabdar during the reign of His Highness Sir Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah VI, Nizam-ul-Mulk, GCB, GCSI (1867-1911) of Hyderabad-Deccan. 

He was one of the greatest Horseman of the period. He was an expert in Horseback riding and had immense knowledge about horses. With the official permission of the His Highness The Nizam of Hyderabad, he used to travel to Arab countries and Afghanistan on business to procure horses, elephants and other material and provide to the requirements of the His Highness The Nizam’s Army time to time.

He taught horse riding to Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula Mir Tahniyat Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah V, Nizam-ul-Mulk, Nizam of Hyderabad and later from 1880 A.D to Crown Prince His Highness Sir Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah VI.

During the period Prime Minister of Hyderabad-Deccan Sir Salar Jung-I Mir Turab Ali Khan was impressed by talent, knowledge and his dedication. He used to keep him in his company and take advise on various matters relating to Army.

Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur shared his knowledge by writing books on horses, which are important wealth of information and a valued treasure.

Legacy

In continuing in the footsteps of this great personality and continuing his legacy is one of his great grandson Ahmed Husain Zubair.



Ahmed Husain Zubair is an accomplished Horseman and very much passionate about horses. He has shown great interest and inherited all the qualities of Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur in Horsemanship. He is well known personality in the sport of Tent Pegging. He is a famous American Tent Pegger having led USA National Team in the International Tent Pegging Championship 2015 and to South Africa in 2016 and won Medals for his country as well as made India proud,  his country of origin.

In 2003, in recognition to his interest, dedication, skills and qualities he possessed, and to encourage him in the field of Equestrian Sports, his uncle Nawab Shujat Ahmed Khan presented him the prestigious ‘Golden Crop’ of Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur.

The Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VI  had awarded ‘Golden Crop’ to Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur in the 1898 for his Excellence in Horsemanship.
