Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur constructed the Bridge on the “Sangam” of
Rivers ‘Moosi’ and ‘Eisa’ with his own money for public utility. This is
in itself is a huge contribution towards his interest to Service to
Humanity. This Bridge was later extended by the Government of A.P. Over
the years, the Bridge, which was one of the most important to the city
of Hyderabad, facilitated both travel and Trade.
Even during the era of His Exalted Highness
Mir Osman Ali Khan Asaf Jah VII, the Bridge was dotted with plants and
illumination at regular intervals, and trees were planted on both sides
of the Bridge to give shade to the passers-by. The road was well
planned, with milestones along the whole stretch. Some of these
milestones can still be seen along the present.
On another note, the
road also facilitated the rapid movement of troops and of foreign
invaders. The Tipu Khan Bridge continues to be one of the major route of
Hyderabad City. For over one century, the The Tipu Khan Bridge has
remained "such a connectivity of life as nowhere else exists in
Hyderabad.
The Tipu Khan
Bridge is now in a state of neglect with no cleanliness with outgrown
plants and tress all over it, no illumination even causing accidents,
making the area under the bridge a den for drug addicts and other
wayward elements, and the name plate mentioning detailed information
about the Bridge is missing.
I would like to draw kind
attention of the State govt that it is utmost important that this bridge must be protected
and restored on the name which is, and famous by its name ‘Tipu Khan
Bridge’ with proper Recognition, Name plate, adequate illumination,
plants and greenery on the Tipu Khan Bridge as it is also a important
passage for the benefit of the general public. Therefore to know the
Bridge on whose name it stands to be displayed as previously it was and
it is, and recognize Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur, this great personality who being High Ranking
Official and close to the His Highness Mir Mahboob Ali KhanAsaf Jah VI, never
aspired for name and fame.
